Mid-Michigan Raptors

Martin Ice Arena is home to the Mid-Michigan Raptors High School Hockey team, a cooperative between seven high schools across the Mid-Michigan area. All Raptors home games and practices are held at Martin Ice Arena.

Since it's inception in 2008 with coach Paul Visich at the helm, Mid-Michigan hockey has taken immense pride in fostering an environment that not only fuels the team's success but also nurtures the growth and development of the players. The commitment to excellence extends beyond the scoreboard, focusing on instilling valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. As the Mid-Michigan Hockey program continues to expand and evolve, it stands as a testament to the dedication of their coaches, the resilience of their players, and the steadfast support of the community.

Raptors coaches and players embody an unwavering commitment to nurturing youth hockey in our community. Beyond their rigorous training and dedication to excellence on the ice, these young athletes recognize the importance of giving back. They actively engage with aspiring hockey players through a mentoring and coaching partnership with the Amateur Hockey Association of Mount Pleasant (AHAMP), becoming fixtures at AHAMP programs such as Try Hockey For Free, Learn to Play, and their Annual Summer Hockey Bootcamp.

In 2022, Brittany Knopp made history by becoming the first female head coach of a high school hockey team in Michigan, breaking barriers and inspiring a new generation of young female athletes with her leadership and passion for the game.
